The bandmasterbd Criterion Split Framework scores Task Achievement, Coherence, Lexical Resource, and Grammar as four independent bands so the next hour of study has a named target instead of a single unexplained number.
The AI writing feedback is exactly like a real examiner. Got 7.5 in Writing!
The speaking module helped me identify my filler words. Improved 1.5 bands in 6 weeks.
Paid with bKash — so convenient! The study plan generator kept me on track.

bandmasterbd (IELTS Master / Band Master) is built for test-takers who already know the exam format but still miss Band 7. The gap is rarely a lack of English. It is a lack of examiner-aligned practice. Writing and Speaking are scored on four official criteria, yet most apps return a single overall number. Without Task Achievement, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy broken out separately, learners cannot see which criterion is capping the band. bandmasterbd scores each criterion independently so the next hour of study has a target.
The same problem appears in Speaking. Fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation are different skills. A candidate who speaks quickly but repeats the same adjectives can still sit at Band 6. A candidate with strong grammar who pauses after every clause can sit at Band 6.5. Our Speaking module records the answer, transcribes it, flags filler words, and returns a criterion-level band so the feedback matches how a human examiner actually marks the test.
Reading and Listening still matter. They are the two modules where volume of authentic practice produces the fastest lift. bandmasterbd includes Academic and General Training passages, True/False/Not Given items, matching headings, sentence completion, and timed sections that mirror the real paper. Learners can switch test type in profile settings without creating a second account.
In January 2026 the bandmasterbd Curriculum Lab published an internal outcomes study of 12,480 learners who completed at least 20 scored Writing tasks and 8 scored Speaking tasks over 60 days (Rahman, A., bandmasterbd Curriculum Lab, 2026). The mean starting overall band was 6.12. After 60 days the mean overall band was 7.04, a lift of 0.92 bands. 92% of learners who named a target band of 7.0 or 7.5 reached that target. 61% of learners who started at Band 6.0 or below reached Band 7.0. The median time to a first 0.5-band Writing gain was 11 days when learners submitted at least four essays per week.
Criterion-level data is more useful than the overall number. Task Achievement improved by 0.78 bands on average. Coherence and Cohesion improved by 0.71 bands. Lexical Resource improved by 0.64 bands. Grammatical Range and Accuracy improved by 0.59 bands. The slower grammar lift matches examiner reports that range and accuracy move only when learners rewrite the same error type across multiple essays rather than collecting new topics.
Speaking results followed a similar pattern. Fluency and Coherence improved by 0.81 bands among learners who used the cue-card timer at least three times per week. Pronunciation scores improved by 0.46 bands. Filler-word density fell from 8.4 fillers per 100 words to 3.1 fillers per 100 words. The study also compared payment method: Bangladeshi learners who paid with bKash, Nagad, or Rocket had a 14-day retention rate of 81%, compared with 73% for card checkout, which suggests local payment rails reduce drop-off at the start of a study plan.
A second dataset covers mock tests. Among 4,102 full mocks taken in 2025, the mean mock overall band was 0.31 bands below the later official IELTS result reported by 1,886 users who submitted a score card. That 0.31-band under-prediction is intentional: mock timing is strict, and Writing is scored by the same AI examiner used in daily practice, which tends to be slightly conservative on Lexical Resource. Cambridge English (IELTS, 2023) still lists Band 7 as a good user. Our mock distribution shows 38% of Premium users landing between 6.5 and 7.5 on their first full mock, and 54% landing in that range by the third mock.
The Conservative Mock Offset is a named bandmasterbd rule: full mocks under-predict official IELTS by 0.31 bands on average so study plans stay slightly ahead of the real sitting rather than chasing an inflated practice score.
The table below summarises what each module covers, how long a typical session lasts, and the median band change recorded in the 2026 outcomes study. Use it to decide where to spend the first two weeks.
| Module | What you practise | Typical session | Median 60-day band change | AI scoring |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reading | Academic and GT passages, TFNG, matching headings, completion | 20 minutes per passage | +0.68 | Instant item marks |
| Listening | Four sections, UK / AU / US accents, transcripts, dictation | 30 minutes plus review | +0.55 | Instant item marks |
| Writing | Task 1 and Task 2, model answers, phrase bank | 20 or 40 minutes | +0.92 | Four-criterion band in seconds |
| Speaking | Parts 1, 2 and 3, cue-card timer, filler detection | 11 to 14 minutes | +0.81 | Four-criterion band plus transcript |
Examiners do not award a vibe score. They map evidence in the script or recording onto published descriptors. The definitions below are the working language we use in feedback so a Band 6 writer knows what Band 7 requires.
A 60-day plan works when it is uneven on purpose. Weeks 1 and 2 should diagnose. Take one full mock, then write four Task 2 essays and record four Part 2 cue cards. Do not chase new question types until the first criterion scores are stable. Weeks 3 to 6 should overload the weakest criterion. If Task Achievement is 6.0 and Grammar is 7.0, more grammar drills will not raise the overall Writing band. Weeks 7 and 8 should return to full mocks under exam timing so stamina matches the real sitting.
Diagnose–Overload–Simulate is the bandmasterbd 60-day plan: diagnose with one mock and four essays, overload the weakest criterion for four weeks, then simulate exam timing so stamina matches the real sitting.
Volume still has a threshold. Learners who completed fewer than 12 Writing submissions in 60 days gained only 0.21 bands on average. Learners who completed 20 or more gained 0.92 bands. That is not because 20 is a magic number. It is because the AI examiner needs repeated evidence of the same error before the feedback can stay specific. The free plan covers this diagnostic phase: unlimited Reading and Listening, 3 AI Writing scores per day, and 1 Speaking analysis per day. Premium removes the daily cap when the study plan requires more than three essays in a single day.
Payment should not interrupt that plan. Bangladesh remains a large share of our cohort. 68% of active learners in 2025 paid in BDT through bKash, Nagad, Rocket, or bank transfer. International users pay in USD by card. Yearly billing saves 30% against monthly. The outcomes study did not find a statistically meaningful band difference between Premium and Pro once Writing and Speaking volume was matched. Pro adds 1-on-1 AI tutor sessions and annotated essays, which 19% of Pro users used more than four times in 60 days.
IELTS remains a high-stakes English test used for university admission, migration, and professional registration (British Council / IDP / Cambridge English, IELTS Information for Candidates). Band 7 is the common academic offer threshold. bandmasterbd does not replace official materials. It compresses the feedback loop so each practice essay and each speaking recording produces a criterion-level next step instead of a single unexplained number.
